How do I upload Fonts to Photoshop without having to go to the photos(I have a free downloaded version)?

Wednesday Jul 28, 2010

I have the free version of photoshop, and I dont have the Font folder, so i cant go to the folder. Dose anyone else have the free version, and knows were to go to upload fonts without going to the folder.

To add fonts to Photoshop you simply have to add them to your Windows font folder. That folder is located under Windows (C:\Windows\Fonts). You simply paste your font files into that folder, restart Photoshop and voluae you have new fonts in Photoshop (and every other program).

Where can i find a guide that can help me understand and use adobe photoshop 7?

Wednesday Jul 28, 2010

Thank you for your answers!

I would really suggest starting at Lynda http://www.lynda.com/home/ViewCourses.aspx?lpk0=391
They are some of the most user friendly and fun. the first 3 to 5 are free.

The other place to go is Adobe, the design center rocks http://www.adobe.com/designcenter/video_workshop/

A fun inspirational site is PSDtuts http://psd.tutsplus.com/ it is advanced but it will help inspire you.

If you are into books I recommend the Photoshop CS4, Volume 1: Visual QuickStart Guide.

How to contain a layer in photoshop?

Wednesday Jul 28, 2010

I want to determine a certain area (like a circle) and when I add a layer or image to Photoshop, the image/layer doesn’t take up the whole canvas. It just takes up that circle area and the rest is transparent. I’m guessing a mask would do this. But how do I do this?

You’ll want to use the mask feature, yes. But the easiest way to achieve what you want to do is Photoshop’s "Paste Into" command.

Let’s say that you want a photograph to appear inside of a circle – but not inside anything else in your artwork.

1) Start by creating a new layer and draw a circle on it using the ellipse tool.

2) Select the area of the circle by holding the control key down on your keyboard and clicking the Circle in the layer’s pallete. This will cause the area of the circle to be selected. (Note – if you control+click the layer, nothing will happen. You have to control+click the circle on the layer in order to get Photoshop to select the area of the circle).

3) Open up the photograph or artwork that you want to place into the circle. Select the entire object (Control +A) and copy it then go back to your circle and click Control+Shift+V

This will paste the artwork into a mask that is precisely the size of your circle. This same technique works with any selection using the "Paste into" technique.

How do you invert a vector mask in Photoshop?

Wednesday Jul 28, 2010

I created a vector mask, but it’s masking out the wrong part.

a simple way to do it would be to finish the mask in the shape you want, then convert it to a selection and choose the inverse selection.

When you define a pattern in photoshop how do you stop it tiling/ repeating itself?

Wednesday Jul 28, 2010

Exactly what i say, do i need to seize or somethingHELLP

I thnk that you may be getting patterns and shapes mixed up. Patterns will always tile (repeat).

Have a look at creating a custom shape instead as they are singluar and do not tile.

Do a google search for ‘photoshop custom shape tutorial’

They are quite simple once you get the hang.

Good luck :)
