Dare Devil Signature - Part 2 of 2

Sunday Aug 31, 2008

Outcome:

Step 1

For this step you must create yet another applied image. This time though, use the Fragment filter on it. This filter is found under the Pixelate sub-menu. Now mess with the settings until you find something that you like and something that goes well with your signature.

Step 1

Now we are going to add another c4d. This time though, the original C4D wasn’t going with the flow of the signature. So, to fix this, try the Filter > Liquify Filter. This isn’t in some of the older versions of Photoshop, so if you don’t have it, that may be why. If you don’t have this filter, just put in a Normal c4d, one that does go with the flow of your signature. Set this layer to screen.

Step 1

Now repeat step 7. This time ONLY erase around the head though.

Step 1

For this step you’ll need another applied image. This time though, we need to mess it up real good. There are two ways that you can do this. Filter > Liquify will work great, but also Edit > Transform > Skew. Either of these should get the job done. Modify the layer so that it goes with the flow, then set it to lighten. The final effect should look a bit like another c4d was added to the signature.

Step 5

Step 15.

Yet again make a new applied image. This time set it to multiply and lower the opacity to about 30-40%.

Step 5

Add the following Curves adjustment layer:

Step 5

Now, like earlier, make some more lighting. Use the same technique, but this time don’t put it on a black background. Set this layer to soft light. Here is what it looks like on normal, and then soft light.

Step 5

Now, make 2 applied images. Turn off one of them and with the other, get out the move tool. Now hold shift, and hit the right arrow key. This should move the layer slightly off where it was before. Now with the second layer, go to Filter > Sharpen > Sharpen. Set this layer to Lighten on about 30-35% opacity.

Step 5

Now go and make a new Gradient Map adjustment layer (layer > adjustment layer) and choose the default black to white gradient. Leave this layer on Normal at 100% opacity, add some text, a border, and your done! Good job. This is the final outcome of this tutorial:
