Green Screen Series #9
Using Image Calculations to create a mask. You can never know too many ways to create a good selection/mask! Here’s another! I know it’s LONG and I could have cut much of it out–but for Beginners I think it’s helpful to be able to watch the process. I apologize in advance to the more advanced users who will more than likely get very bored with this.

I need a bit og f help on how to create a mask layer in photoshop 7.0:)
Photoshop is so difficult!
Photoshop is "not" difficult - it just takes time and much practice to learn - so if you have a very short attention span, lack concentration skills or are just impatient you will find it "harder"

As promised, here is the second part of the video tutorial on layer masks.
Photoshop Elements does not include the layer mask functionality, in its native form at least. However, it does include adjustment layers, and these little beauties have their own layer masks. In this video I show you a rather clever trick whereby you can hijack this mask and use it as you would a normal layer mask.
Best of all its really easy to use.

Better yet, how do i reset my photoshop or something? I dont want to re-install…
Reset the Preferences. Do this by pressing Ctrl+Shift+Alt key just before Photoshop starts. Photoshop will rebuild the file once the existing one has gone through this step.
This video shows how to mask and replace skies with Photoshop for real estate photography.

I have two layers. Layer one is a black and white texture photograph. Layer two is my image. How can I use layer one as a mask? I’m trying to achieve a ‘worn’ look.
I’ve tried right clicking on layer one and selecting ‘make clipping mask’, but it doesn’t do anything.
Instead of a mask you can use a blend mode. To the texture layer apply an opacity of 70-75. Then choose the Linear Burn or the Color Burn blend mode.
